Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Students and Teachers,

I am writing to let you know what a great term we’ve had at Sirius College. Our calendar was full of activities. There is still so much important learning to occur in 2019. We now only have Term 4 in which to finish the educational year successfully. Interim reports will be posted to you in the first week of Term 3 holiday. This report is a significant indication of your son’s academic progress in each of his subjects and his participation and approach to his learning. Dear parents, I want you to take a few moments to look at your son’s achievements so far and discuss with him strategies to meet any challenges that have been underlined in the report. In this way, he will prepare himself for continued success in Term 4.

The end of Term 3 also means that the Year 12 students are approaching a very important stage of their life. They need to study hard for subjects with external exams as well as a focus on other subjects for the completion of final SACs. In particular, I strongly advise Year 12 students to attend the revision sessions being held at school over the holiday, and to ensure that they continue their studying at home. I know the Sirius College community will keep the Year 12s in their prayers during this time.

There will be VCE study camp in the first week of Term 4. It is between the 6th and 10th of October. Camp will start on Sunday so there will be no school on Friday. It is the first time we will be running a year 11 and 12 camp at Meadow Fair. This camp is not only for studying but also it is for personal development and motivation. There will be motivational speakers. I highly recommend your attends. He will benefit immensely.

As I mentioned at the beginning of my writing that our calendar was full with activities. One of which was the Science Fair. It was a very well organised activity with students. It was really nice to see students who produced products and demonstrate them. I am proud of my students and teachers again. Congratulations to Science Department, students and of course Yasin Erdogan for making interesting experiments.

Our students who distributed Qurbans in Kenya have arrived home. They shared their amazing stories. We are aware Qurban is a time where people shred their greed and selfishness, and fulfil it with beauty. We all participate in a very profound cause of understanding, giving and helping the poor and needy. We believe that as a school community and with our collective efforts we can make a significant difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Thank you very much for your contribution and Pastoral care department for organising this trip.

I would like to finish with a quote from a great scholar. He says that love is an elixir; a human lives with love, is made happy by love and makes those around him or her happy with love. In the vocabulary of humanity, love is life; we feel and sense each other with love.

Sincerely,

Mehmet Cicek
